I sent this to Mobage today as well. Once again, lousy cards, lousy Campaign episode... Yeah, they're going to get an earful from me this weekend.
Ticket #197644, for the record.
To whom it may concern...
You recently debuted a new scheme for the Character Space Bridge (hereafter, CSB) - this, despite posting on your blog a few months earlier that you would NOT be altering its setup after players complained about how often it changed and the uncertainty those changes caused - called the Battle Chest. I plan on never spending a single Mobacoin/Cybercash on this bridge.
A brief search of my history with you will show the following:
- During my first run on TFL (late May to late November of 2013), I spent around US$2,000 in the TFL application. I tended to eschew the later stages of the CSB, as I felt that, at 3000 coins per unlimited tier pull, it wasn't a good value for my money. Instead, I bought guaranteed raider packages, weapons and battle cubes, and occasionally supplemented these purchases with short trips on the CSB. I successfully won 14 top-tier prizes during this stretch of time, and spent anywhere from $50-$220 per episode (aside from the three PVP episodes of the fourteen, which often required little to no money outlay for me, unless I desired a specific card).
- During my current run (from April 1, 2014), things have changed. Battle cubes became slightly more expensive and the CSB less so. Initially, the CSB had a number of guaranteed raiders early in the process, making it very enticing. Even after those early guarantees were removed, it still, in the long run, led to a better deal overall for an individual episode (especially as the power creep in all areas of the game makes raiders an absolute necessity for a top-tier finish). My spending on the episodes hasn't changed (when I am planning on a top-tier finish, at least), and I've managed six top-tier finishes, including two top 10s and two more top 20s, in that time frame.
The reason why is simple, and became clear with the release of the new "Battle Chest" CSB. Buying characters on the "old" CSB meant that spending 12,750 coins would buy you up to a fifth "Unlimited" tier (Loop 4). This meant (for the last two months) a MINIMUM of six GUARANTEED raider cards. Likely, you'd be able to MTM at least one 10x raider, and it gave you a good shot of at least getting a half of the 16x R6 raider... which often leads to MORE spending on the CSB if you want to complete it. In a worst case scenario (where you get all one side of the 10x raider), it would usually be easy to make up for that with rubies. Now, that same 12,750 would (assuming I make the rational purchase of the 6,000-coin 25-card pull and held back 750 coins) only give me TWO raider cards (not six like before), and this is a BEST CASE scenario, as I stand a reasonable chance of spending 12,000 coins and getting ZERO or ONE raider card.
Six (minimum; maximum is, theoretically, limitless, but, in practice, nine) before. Two (maximum; minimum is ZERO) now. All for the low, low cost (please note: THIS IS SARCASM) of US$120 or more. Zero desired cards for $120 makes for unsatisfied customers.
I know Ry-Guy666 from the TFL Wikia forum, and I know he wrote recently expressing his concerns over spending hundreds of dollars on the "old" CSB and his lack of luck in acquiring complete top raiders from it. I fully understand that 48,000 coins would guarantee you a complete 16x R6 raider in the "Battle Chest" system, and that it's quite likely it wouldn't cost that much (I've done the math, and the expected cost of a 16x R6 in the "Battle Chest" is around US$225). However, I'm also aware that ddr2nite has sent you a ticket showing that the math on spending 48,000 coins on the "old" CSB was an INFINITELY better deal than spending 48,000 on the "Battle Chest."
Until a better, more reasonable system for the CSB is implemented, it has seen the LAST of my coins/dollars. The value, simply, just is no longer good enough for me to justify spending a single coin on it.
Thank you,
