Hello everyone. As you know, the next upcoming event for TFL is the PvP event. Not sure of what to expect, but some aspects of it is based from Joe, so why not I tell you a little more about PvP events in Joe.
- Disclaimer: this is just a rough description, and will not be the main PvP event in the upcoming week
1) Factions
There are 2 factions in the game, Joe and Cobra. Just like this game, Autobots and Decepticons. Here is the PvP event gameplay in Joe; you choose which mission you would like to run, cobra missions or Joe missions. If you chose Cobra mission, you will enter with either Joe/Cobra/Mixed deck to fight normal enemies, not other players.
The enemies that you encounter are Joe enemies, and the PvP opponents that you will encounter are Joe-based opponents and you will use your Cobra deck when facing against other opponents during a PvP battle. The same goes for Joe missions. You will enter with either Joe/Cobra/Mixed deck to fight normal Cobra enemies, and the PvP opponents that you will encounter are cobra-based opponents and you will use your Joe deck to fight them.Â
2a) Finding a PvP battle
To find a pvp battle, go into a mission. Basically, there are "empty spots" of which there is a chance to trigger a PvP battle. Below is an example of how to "progress through a mission". o represents blank spots, .. represents "small steps", x represents a regular enemy, S represents start. Small steps don't cost energy.
S..x..o..o..o..x..x..o..G
These o spots have a chance of triggering of pvp battle. And yes, by progressing thru missions you will use up "energy" or energon in TFL. Each mission has a fixed path, but with randomly generated blank spots/regular enemy encounters. So each time you exit and re-enter the same mission, the blank spots/regular enemy encounters will generate randomly.
2b) Points boost
Right before a PvP battle, there is a chance of triggering a point boost. These boosts will help you climb the ranks faster, just like regular TFL leaderboard.
2c) Win streaks
The higher the win streaks, the more points you get, and the harder the battles will get. Maximum win streak is 30. A regular battle without a point boost can start as low as ~800 on the first battle and as high as 15k+ on higher streaks. With a point boost, it can start from ~2k on the first battle and as high as ~40k - ~100k on the higher streaks.
The above points depends on who you are facing, lower "millitary" ranks gets you lower points and higher "millitary" ranks gets you higher points. (For millitary ranks, see below)
Win streaks are in multiples of 3. 3, 6, 9, 12... 30. And these multiples of 3 are so called "safe zones". You are given 10 mins, to fight 3 opponents which are chosen randomly by the system. After winning a battle, you are given a new set of 3 opponents, sometimes 2 of them are the same. If you fail to to reach the next safe zone, your streak will be reset to the previous safe zone you have obtained. And of course, winning increases your streak by 1.
Example: If you are at streak 4 and u fail to reach the safe zone 6, your streak will be reset to the previous safe zone, which is 3.Â
2d) Power of attack
Currently in Joe, there are only 2 types of attacks, either an normal attack (1 ammo = 1 cube), or an "all out attack" (3 ammo = 3 cubes). All out attacks give a 50% stats boost to all stats to all characters.
3ai) Before a PvP battle
During a battle, you have a squad of 5 to fight against the opponents squad of 5. Before the PvP starts, you can swap in your substitutes if you think that your substitutes may have a better chance of winning your opponent.
Let's take the below as an example, the alphabets as your main squad and the numbers as substitutes.
A B C D E
1 2 3 4 5
You can use the formation A B 3 D E, 1 B 3 D 5, A 2 C 4 E.... any way you like. Do take note that you can only substitute up and down, not side to side. (Side to side works, but its buggy atm)
3aii) Stat Bonuses
Before battle, stat bonuses are given before the battle starts. There are a few. They are Title bonus, Faction bonus (10%), and "all out attack" bonus (50%)
3b) During a PvP battle
Your squads members have special skills, just like TFL. However, the skills for TFL is only critical hit and convergence (not sure convergence will trigger during PvP) while in Joe, there are a wide range of skills.
An example of a normal skill is "bullet storm", which is to deal damage to six (6) random targets. They also have Vehicle skills, an example is "Raider rush", which is to deal heavy damage to three targets with a chance to stun. These special skills have their % chance of triggering.
The normal skill triggering rate can range from (11%-100%), depends on the level of the skill and the type of character used. The Vehicle skill can trigger from (5%-10%). Sometimes, during PvP, you may be "lucky" with your squad's triggering of skills and win, sometimes your opponent trigger their skills and you did not, sometimes both you and opponent did not trigger any skills at all. Depends on how the system wants it to be, its totally random.
4) Group battles
Here comes the fun part, and sometimes, the hardest.
After earning the rank of Scrapper, you are eligible of competing against a group. You will be fighting for double promotion, promotion or even demotion in rank. Basically, goal is to obtain as much points as possible to get promoted, you want a better rank right? The first picture on the right shows me and Patriots on the highest rank fighting to maintain rank. Also, "demotion pool: 4" means 4 people will be demoted. The second picture show the people in my group getting demoted. There is a "promotion pool." It grows by 1 spot once the goal of a certain amount of points has been reached.
5) Millitary ranks
Below are the millitary ranks, and their stat bonus, as well as how to get them.
Rank | Bonus | Obtainable by |
---|---|---|
Battlemaster | 40% | Group |
Commander | 30% | Group |
Chief | 20% | Group |
Champion | 16% | Group |
Enforcer | 14% | Group |
Duelist | 12% | Group |
Brawler | 10% | Group |
Fighter | 8% | Group |
Scrapper | 7% | Points |
6% | Points | |
5% | Points | |
4% | Points | |
3% | Points | |
2% | Points | |
1% | Points |
6) Rewards
Rewards are faction-specific in Joe. Only 1 faction will have rewards.
7) Points rewards
The first few hundred thousand or so will award you 1-3 ammo, but not energy/rations (energon/energon cubes), while the rest will be medals to boost units' stats. And of course, at a certain point, you will receive 1 event reward card.
Okay that's done for now. Anything else that you would like me to explain, leave a reply below. Let the questions roll in.
